
Our Board of Directors provides guidance to hospital leadership and is made up of individuals who have extensive knowledge of healthcare administration and are passionate about the advancement of healthcare services in the Carson Valley.
COO Acute Services
Dawn joined Renown in 1993. Among her many accomplishments, she was responsible
for launching Transformational Health Care at Renown -- a model for continuous
improvement based on the lean methodology. She trained in Japan and at
Virginia Mason Health Care System before introducing the program to the
organization in 2010.
Tahoe Fracture & Orthopedic
Dr. Fry graduated from the University of Southern California Keck School
of Medicine in 1983. He specializes in Orthopedic Surgery and Orthopedic
Sports Medicine and is certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery.
His fellowship was with the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and
he served his residency in Orthopedics with Shriners Hospital in San Francisco,
Letterman Army Medical Center in San Francisco and the Armed Forces Institute
of Pathology. "Inspired by the adventures of my youth in the Sierra
Nevada, I entered college with the intent to become a wildlife biologist,"
he said. "Upon graduation, I discovered that the employment demand
for those with degrees in wildlife biology were slim to none. With few
job prospects, and no money, I decided to join the Army and let Uncle
Sam help pay my way through medical school. After serving in Germany during
Desert Storm, I returned to my roots in South Lake Tahoe. There I my father
at Tahoe Fracture & Orthopedic Clinic (of which he was one of the
founding partners). One of the things that I love most about what I do
is being able to work together with my patients to help them overcome
their problems and get back to 'living.'"
Chief of Staff
Sy Came to Reno from PeaceHealth in Vancouver, Wash., where he served as
Chief Executive Officer for the Columbia network. In his role at Renown
Health, Johnson oversees operations at Renown Regional Medical Center,
Renown South Meadows Medical Center, Renown's network services including
service lines. He also oversees Hometown Health, Renown Health's insurance division.
A national award-winning senior executive, Sy has a solid background in strategic, operational and financial business planning; physician relationships and clinical integration; as well as a keen focus on quality and patient service enhancement.
Chief Financial Officer, Barton Healthcare System
Kelly joined the Barton team in 2006, serving as Controller and Administrative
Director of Finance & Revenue Cycles. She was named Barton's CFO in
November of 2018 and was appointed to the CVMC board in the summer of
2019. An experienced finance and accounting expert, Kelly holds a Masters
of Business Administration, a Masters of Taxation and Certified Public
Accountant licenses in California and Nevada. She was born at Barton Memorial
Hospital, as were her two youngest of three daughters, and has deep connections
to the South Lake Tahoe area. Prior to joining the Barton team, Kelly
practice public accounting in Carson Valley and South Lake Tahoe. She
and her husband, Mike - a physical therapist at Barton Rehabilitation's
Stateline office - are active volunteers with South Tahoe High School
basketball and enjoy taking their family hiking, boating and camping.
President & Chief Executive Officer, Barton Healthcare System
Dr. Clint Purvance, M.D., C.P.E., earned his medical degree at the University
of Nevada School of Medicine in 1996. He completed his Emergency Medicine
Resident Training Program at the University of Michigan in 1999 and joined
Barton Health and Carson Valley Medical Center as an emergency physician.
He is board certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine in his
specialty and as a Physician Executive by the Certifying Commission in
Medical Management. Dr. Purvance served as Chief Medical Officer at Barton
from 2007 to 2015 and since has been the acting President and CEO of the
Health system.
Chief Financial Officer, Renown Health
Ann Beck, MBA, is Chief Financial Officer for Renown Health. Ann offers more than 20 years’ experience building and leading high-functioning, engaged teams. She is a practiced healthcare finance leader with 13 years of CFO experience and has been instrumental in her service to the Acute Care Division, Revenue Cycle and Health Information Management before her promotion to system Chief Financial Officer. She is deeply experienced in advising and guiding corporations through complex restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, process improvement, and debt financing.
Ann joined Renown in 2018. Prior to her work at Renown, she was the Vice President, Chief Financial Officer for Carson Tahoe Health System where she restructured existing debt and structured new money issuance designed to reduce both cost of capital and balance sheet risk. She also championed an orthopedic service line improvement project resulting in both reduced length of stay and supply costs.
Chief Executive Officer, Carson Valley Medical Center
Jeff joined Carson Valley Medical Center in June of 2018. He got his start
in healthcare serving as a Hospital Corpsman in the U.S. Navy from 1993
to 2000. Since then, he has worked in a variety of healthcare administrative
roles ranging from director of outpatient services, director of radiology,
hospital administrator and Chief Executive Officer. Most recently, Jeff
was serving as the Administrator of Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital in Sitka, Alaska
since 2015. He received his Bachelor's of Health Sciences degree from
the Medical University of South Carolina in 2001 and his Master's of Health
Administration from Montana State University in 2006.
